IMPORTANT NOTICE:
This project is officially dead. It is no longer worked on. It is here for historic purposes only and may be erased from the internet without warning. I am no longer interested in working with zChat because I have my much bigger project called CiNets which runs smoother, better, and bigger than zChat ever dreamed of.
The following is legacy as of June 24th, 2010 and is here for historic purposes only. Not all of the following is true anymore, along with the content below Navigation that follows the links on the left.
Welcome to zChat's Official Website!
The website you are browsing is zChat's main website. This is not zChat-powered, for that you need to move to one of the links under Live server in the left panel.
zChat in a nutshell is a chat system made by Jailout2000 that allows any protocol (text and/or binary) to be used on it. Depending on the byte you send after you connect to the server, you can have HTTP web pages generated by zChat, you could chat on the server with other people who may also make their own client, you may even transfer some files from zChat to your computer or client. For mostly complete protocol specifications, please see the Protocol Specifications under Live server in the left panel.
As you browse this website, you will notice a few things such as page load count and categorized navigation. This template has been modified almost 4x over by Jailout2000, after the W3Schools made the template.
If you are a software developer or programmer, you should probably read the Protocol Specifications. The specifications contain reliable information about zChat's packet system, and how to use it without getting kicked or banned from the server. It even tells you how long these bans will be, if you read it thoroughly. The specifications may not be complete, but they are at the very least, 75% complete. For the other 25%, you can use general knowledge and your own testing to figure it out.
Because I do not want others to obtain zChat's source and use it maliciously by possibly exploiting its features, I have not put the server source up for download. However, if you need a client, there are clients available to you. If you do not like the clients available to you, you can find another one on the internet or make your own using the Protocol Specifications to guide you.
Thanks, -Jailout2000
